No I do not have it but it was recommended to me when I was looking into goldwork for a gown. Other things have come up so that I have not gotten around to ordering the book. I found it at $18.21 from Amazon, which is cheap enough to buy just to check it out anyway. My copy should be on its way soon, yay! [h-cost] Medieval gold thread
Hi all! I've searched the archives but haven't found what I'm looking for. My group (focused on Norway, 1299-1319) is planning to make an embroidered standard/banner, as historically accurate as possible in design, techniques and materials. The details aren't clear yet, but the project may involve couching gold thread onto silk. So here's the thing: most sources I've been able to find only refer to gold thread and don't go into whether this is bullion/purl (and if so what kind), or solid drawn thread, or what. Does anyone have any sources for the period, give or take a few years? Preferably for Northern Europe, but Europe in general is good. Thanks in advance!
