That's right.
 
I was trained to use betweens for most sewing - they're shorter than sharps  
and tend to be a bit stronger.
 
Being honest, though, I tend to use larger needles if I'm doing lots of  
handstitching (as in 16 hours or so a day), cos it stops my hands  cramping.
