Nowadays I don't even recommend Wilcox as an overview, tho I do still have a copy of it. We have had this discussion before, but I'll weigh in again. Wilcox was one of the books that got me started in costume history. I made paper dolls based on several of my favorites. I found a copy cheap at a flea market almost 30 years ago and have it still. Do I rely on it for research? No. It has been interesting through the years to recognize the sources her drawings were based on--some seem to have been primary sources, like fashion plates. Occasionally, if I need "clip art" of, say, a fan or glove or something and I find the line drawings handy to scan for that. Ann Wass **************Looking for love this summer?
