I need some help in determining what color is being referred to when the
term bottle green was used in the early 19th century.

As dye formulas varied, I don't think you will find one definitive bottle
green. But I'll check my Pantone book tomorrow to see if it has anything
that I would think of as bottle green--which is dark and probably slightly
grayed.

I agree that because dye processes on each type of fabric varies, it
would be hard to find one exact example of what bottle green is
precisely, especially since the dyes and materials used in the early
19th century were different from what is readily available today but
don't quote me on that
