others seem to suggest
that you need to source a screen that has been verified by Lenovo. I
think there is a bios
white list of screens that will work.

A colleague at work (I work for IBM) decided his work supplied Lenovo
thinkpad had too low a resolution. He bought a new screen online and said it
was very easy to replace it himself.
