Well, you are the second person asking this in a short time, so I will
provide one. My rationale is that 2.2 is quite new and Stretch is
already maintained as LTS. When maintained as LTS, we loose the ability
to use backports (there is no LTS for official backports), so it may
make the maintenance more difficult. However, it's unlikely the build
system will change much during the lifecycle of the 2.2 and since it
doesn't require backports, we should be fine.
