Hi Jyrki.
On 26 Nov tune in at 1850 I tried this station. Decent signal here,
but the audio was very distorted at times. Yes, the language sounds
African. Program was mostly interviews (or telephone comments)
with short music bridges. Allah was mentioned often and I think

Happy Thanksgiving to my stateside brethren!
Has anybody ever done a mod on the fixed front end preselection circuits of
the FT-840 to increase sensitivity on the MW and LW bands? I haven't looked
closely at the schematic yet but I would presume that it's a matter of
defeating a resistor or two.
Yes, it is Iran in Hausa, s/on at 1830 with usual gongs and the NA of Iran.

Hi Mauno and others,
I tried this evening and found only Voice of Russia in French on 7335 kHz at
18.00. It was still there at 18.30 // 7340! Now, at 19.00, I can hear only
the station you mention, but with very bad audio. I am happy to have heard
Galkayo before the frequency became too crowded
Hi Mauno.
Heh, yes, I just had to check the sign-on today 27th, too.
The transmitter came on around 1827 with instrumental music,
then at 1830 the Teheran chimes, ID in Hausa and NA.

Thanks Jean-Michel and Jari for solving this mystery! Jari's
description of programme content is similar to that I also heard.
So my hunt for Galkayo continues
