Caught a quick ID at 0952. Went over 1000 w/nothing special. Good
signal but tremendous static crashes QRN. (20 August)
9629.96 BRAZIL R. Aparecida PT tlk by M and W hosts at 2237.
Went off briefly at 2239 and 2241, and what seemed to be off for good
at 2242:35. Was good at the beginning, but much weaker when it was
going off and on. Was back on though at 2358 w/ID during tlk by M.
2359 canned ID/promo, and couple more canned anmnts. Hasn’t been hrd
here on this freq in weeks. (20 August)

hrd on the Sluwe Vos Perseus rcvr. Anmnt at 2251. Came back prior to
0000 and it was good. Was gone though when I returned a couple

mentioning 2 people named “Victor”. 1030 mx in the background. 1034
RS Pop song (hrd the next day as well). Dropped off quite a bit in
the half hour leading up to 1100. Best hrd yet though. (22 August)
2485 AUSTRALIA ABC Katherine Great signal at 0909 t/in w/nx in
detail by M including actualities. S9+10 strength much stronger than
//2310 Tennant Creek. Tuned out at 0920, but when I returned at 0957,
it was very weak and barely audible and on par with 2310. Noisy

7699.89U ITALY Marconi R. Int. Finally caught this one. Took a
lot of time and effort. 2218-2229 apparent DX pgm “Italian Shortwave
Panorama” w/M host over mx which was occasionally increased as bridges
between items. The tone and cadence sounded like EG. Hrd ments of at
least 1 stn “?? Radio…”, and “Washington” and “DX”. Seemed like a
short ID at 2230 “…Radio International” but a pulsing UTE just above
was on at this time. Into another DX-related pgm, probably “Panorama
Onde Corte” w/intro using the “Star Wars” theme mx sev. times. M host
over mx. Lang. could’ve been IT. Hrd a ment of “DX”, and a number of
freqs given in “kilohertz” at 2236. There was another pgm w/M host
over mx from 2248-2258, possibly a mailbag pgm. From 2250-2254 the
nasty UTE above was on continuously totally wiping out the bdcst.
2258 canned M anncr in slight echo effect followed by another M anncr
over mx, poss. and ID. Finally 2300-2301, an instru. song played to
close the bdcst going off at 2301:37. Was supposed to be on 7700 but
audio seemed best/normal on 7699.89. Weak and very poor. Had it been
a little stronger, it would’ve been much more readable. (24 August)
9650 GUINEA R. Guinee 2304-2311 current Afro Pop and Dance mx.
M over beginning of some w/ment of “…nationale ?? de Guinea”. Really
nice signal. (24 August)
9705 INDIA AIR Panaji 2304-2309 M in EG w/nx. 2305:15 quick ID
between nx items. Went off 2309:38 just before the nx ended and came
back on at 2310:41 w/some sort of tone then W giving cmntry in EG.
//9690 Bengaluru which was better. This freq had noise in the audio.

3325 PAPUA NEW GUINEA NBC Bougainville 0959 M anncr ment of
upcoming NBC nx, brief mx bridge then into EG nx by M. Slowly
improving. Came back and was really nice at 1025 w/Pop mx. 1026 M in
PD w/song anmnts. 1027 into “You Shook Me” by AC/DC. More of the
same mx pgm w/M DJ hosting. Would’ve been a fine signal if not for

2314 usual IS, 2315 opening anmnt by W in apparent VT, then mx. Very

4796.007 UNID. Was getting a signal here prior to 1000 but didn’t
pay any attention to it. Came back just after 1000 and thought I hrd
a M tlking once to 1021 but too weak and way too much noise. Wonder
if this might be the old Bolivian back on. (28 August)

w/ment of celebration of anniversary in Bougainville, the NBC website,
shortwave, and an NBC representative being present somewhere. Good

comes you from the Voice of Indonesia…”. Came back at 1054 and caught
Asian Pop mx. 1103 EG promo/ID by M and W, Gamelan mx bridge then W
over mx w/canned anmnt w/freqs, website for streaming audio, e-mail
and mailing addrs. Very rarely hear this well enough to ID. (31
