Recently I got the mod done on my Drake SPR4 so the 2.3 crystal filter
will work on AM. The filter is very good. In some cases comparing the
R/C filter, also 2.3 khz on the R8, the SPR4 does better. It is amazing
hearing the difference. But the problem I now have is the audio

I did the same mod when I bought my SPR-4 back in 1979 - and the audio
quality was just as awful. In fact the audio quality was the main reason
I and the SPR-4 parted some 15 years later. Maybe a highpass audio filter
might be helpful - I assume if you can clean up the lowest
