Thanks very much to Glenn, for noticing my strange posting. I had the wrong frequency for the Voice of Mongolia. I definitely heard them on 12084.87, NOT 12014.87. Very sorry for my mistake! The Courtesy Program Committee (CPC) of the International Radio Club of American (IRCA) and the National Radio Club (NRC) are pleased to announce the 2023 ?Spring into DX? tests from the Bluegrass State! Stay up late with us on Saturday night/Sunday morning as WWKY 990 in Winchester, KY and WMST 1150 in Mount Sterling, KY will both be conducting maintenance tests for two full hours. The test starts at one minute after midnight 00:01 AM EDT, Sunday morning March 26 (0400 UTC) and lasts until 2 AM EDT (0600 UTC). Both stations will run at their daytime power and pattern. That?s 2,500 watts for WMST and 1,000 watts for WWKY. Snagging this dynamic duo will be a challenge. To help make it easier, the station is broadcasting some of the best DX test material available. The test will consist mostly of sweep tones, Morse code at 20WPM & 12 WPM (1 kHz), 1kHz long tones, and proven sound effects to cut through the noise. The stations also plan to run some ?special programming? that is sure to be fun. CREDITS This ?Spring Into DX" test is a direct result of the outreach efforts of Harry Dence and the generosity of Hays McMakin of Gateway Radio Works, Inc., who own both stations. Again, Hays and his team had to work around high school basketball and March Madness to make this test go, so you have our thanks. Kudos to our all-volunteer CPC team as well! Thank you Hays McMakin! QSL INFORMATION The usual rules for a CPC-scheduled test apply: Email reception reports to d...@highnoonfilm.com <mailto:d...@highnoonfilm.com> Reception reports must be received within 30 days (May 10, 2023) QSLs for all DX Tests from the 2021-2022 will be answered when the season is over. Be patient. Reception reports must include a recording of no more than two minutes in length. .MP3, .WAV or .MP4 video accepted. Normally the most likely 2x from Cuba is 12000. Also possible: 12200 & 12330 worth checking when the 6100 & 6165 fundamentals be on, or should be on. Only then do I check the listings: none such in HFCC B22. Meanwhile the station still needs a *lot* of work; I suspected he was axually somewhat enjoying the troubleshooting, repairing challenges, when he can get to the site. Says an insulator broke at the end of an antenna wire, called a Steotype, or something like that. #2 transmitter runs at 70 kW, but Ted left with the harmonic filter not working [tho I never heard any second harmonix from it]. Parts to bring the #1 up from 70 to a minimum of 90 kW were ordered and supposed to be shipped from China three weeks ago; follow-up found they were not shipped until last week, so wait another week. Hoping that a sale will go thru but not firm yet. Buyer will gain among everything else, at least twelve high power tubes. Each transmitter needs only one, but Ted had been running the filaments 24 hours, wearing them down, all of them only partly depleted. Come to think of it, everything was done wrong. George is at least making sure by remote control that the filaments are off when not transmitting. #1 and #3 are in pieces. #3 driver tube is no good. Currently concerned with fixing the automatic gate to the property (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** VANUATU. 7260, March 21 at 0715, S4/S6 carrier from R. Vanuatu, seems dead air as often reported now after cyclone damage. At 0612, Gary Pence was hearing carrier, no modulation into Oahu SDR (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED. 7720 & 7680, March 21 at 1529, JBA talk, seem to be real as still there with preamps off, do not compute as strong signals mixing with my two local MW signals on 960 & 1390, nor of course as harmonix. Nothing listed on either in EiBi & Aoki. Possibly remnant of ChiCom jamming against new SOHs? 7665, March 21 at 1530, OTOH is jamming vs RFA Tajikistan. Also JBA carriers this late on 7390 NZ remnant [which in a few days for A23 changes to 7440]; 7365 & 7300, China and/or jammers (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) UNIDENTIFIED [non]. Now that we are equinoxial, chances for nightmiddle propagation on higher bands increase: March 21 at 0643, I detect two JBA carriers on 16m: 17640 listed as BBC English via ASCENSION; and weaker 17730, SAUDI ARABIA in Arabic, the OSOBs (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) This report dispatched at 1957 UT March 21 ------------------------------ Message: 10 Date: Wed, 22 Mar 2023 02:36:57 +0100 From: <df...@darc.de> To: "Glenn Hauser_actual" <wghau...@gmail.com>, "Michel Fremy_be" <mic...@fremy.be>, "David Crawford_FL" <dcs...@molniya1.com>, "Mike Delmage" <mickey.delm...@gmail.com>, "_ BCLNEWS" <bdxc-n...@groups.io>, "_ WOR" <w...@groups.io>, "HCDX" <hard-core-dx@hard-core-dx.com> Subject: Re: [HCDX] [shortwavesites] Bejucal, Cuba, research findings Message-ID: <9E076C28720B4A64B1316725B80EE951@PC3> Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="utf-8"; reply-type=original > In Cuba, they don't talk about "Bejucal" (the city of Bejucal is > far from the center). > > > Internally, in the company, they speak of the second transmitter > center of /Quivic?n/. > > > The facilities of "Bejucal" are still in use and have even been > restored after the last cyclone (november 2022). That?s totally wrong, see enclosed Excel File arrived from Prof. Arnaldo Coro, which arrived in Alemania on 10 April 2015 spreadsheet / hoja electr?nica contain separate Bauta, Bejucal, and TITAN spreadsheets. Bejucal sheet shows detailed antenna figures, like Antena #6, #27, and #31 which left over by the formerly USSR bunkers in 60ties after the Cuba misile crisis. vy73 de wolfie df5sx wwdxc alemania ps. Arnie send out various Excel data files in past decade until his sudden medical operation on hospital in 2019. Internally, in the company, they speak of the second transmitter center of Quivic?n. The facilities of "Bejucal" are still in use and have even been restored after the last cyclone (november 2022). The transmitters are used, among other things, for the broadcasting on short waves of Radio Progreso, La Onda de la Alegria, on 4765 kHz, For the other programs broadcast from this former transmitter center of the USSR, Radiocuba does not wish to communicate. -- Michel FREMY https://www.media-radio.info https://www.facebook.com/Radiosdumonde/ _._,_._,_ End of Hard-Core-DX Digest, Vol 243, Issue 22 *********************************************
