Peru, 4835.49, Radio Maranon, 1005-1030, With typical Huaynos
music. At 1016, heard a canned ID while the music continued. At 1018, a few
canned promos then back to music. Signal remained poor during the period.
(Chuck Bolland, August 15, 2008)

China, 6115, Voice of the Strait, Fuzhuo, 1040-1100 Noted typical Chinese
format and Chinese Music (not Firedrake) with a parallel signal on 7280 KHz
from Fuzhuo. At 1045 a female commences a long discourse in Chinese. This
possibly the medal results from the Olympics? Just guessing. Signal on
6115 was fair while 7280 was
poor. (Chuck Bolland, August 15, 2008)

Subject: [HCDX] Indian Govt not considering permitting news on private

To: dx india [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The Government is not considering any proposal to permit news broadcasts on
private FM Radio channels.

This was stated by Information and Broadcasting secretary Sushma Singh, when
answering a question on the sidelines of the Second Indian News Television
Summit organised by indiantelevision.com.

Singh noted that the government had studied the reports of the Telecom
Regulatory Authority of India as well as the Ficci in this connection.

Answering another question, she said the government was considering the
report on television audience meters received recently from Trai.

She said the government was under pressure from the judiciary to finalise and
enforce a Content Code for television broadcasters, but regretted that the one
finalised by a group of stakeholders from all sectors set up by her ministry
had not been accepted by the news channels.

She said all stakeholders would be consulted before any Content Code is
finalised. Draft codes had been prepared by the News Broadcasters Association

Russia, 7300, Voice of Russia, 1000-1030+ Noted a female in Chinese or
Mandarin language comments. Bridge music between segments. Relay site for
this transmission is listed as Khabarovsk
located in the Far East of Russia. A parallel transmission was received on
7330 KHz which is probably relayed via Vladivostok

also in the Far East of Russia. The 7300 KHz relay was steady at
a good level, while the 7330 KHz relay was fair. (Chuck Bolland,
August 16, 2008)

Bolivia, 6134.80, Radio Santa Cruz, 1026-1040 At tune in heard a
male in Spanish Language comments. This was only a couple of minutes before
canned ID and promos/ADs presented. Mentions of

en Santa Cruz once in awhile during ADs and promos. Signal was
good during the period. (Chuck Bolland, August 16, 2008)

Russia, 5920, Radio Rossii, 1038-1045, With a male and female in
Russian language conversation. This over WBOH in Spanish, which is loosing
out on this frequency with Rossii. Signal from Rossii is fair to

good while WBOH fades down to poor. (Chuck Bolland, August 8, 2008)

Unid, 5940, 1045-1110 Noted a weak station here which sounds
like they are using the Russian Language. Station is too weak for
me to hear the details. At 1058 some sort of IS is heard followed
by comments. On the hour time ticks heard, but splatter covers the
rest of the details. The previous mentioned programming continues
however, after the hour. (Chuck Bolland, August 16, 2008)

[HCDX] London's Jewish radio station closes after Galloway sues

2008-08-16 Thread Arnaldo
London's only Jewish community radio station has been forced to cease
broadcasting after losing a High Court libel case brought against it by the
Respect MP George Galloway.

Jcom, a non-profit station which broadcast online and to a small area in
north-west London, was wound up after it was told to pay the MP damages of
£15,000.

Mr Galloway sued the station after one of its presenters played a spoof
character based on the MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, and implied he was
anti-Semitic. It was also ordered to pay Mr Galloway's court costs, thought
to be £5,000. Mr Galloway said that the judgment had categorically crushed
the slur of anti-Semitism.

During a broadcast in November, a presenter who called himself Georgie
Galloway, the station's Middle East correspondent, used the catchphrase,
kill the Jews, kill the Jews. The station immediately sacked the
presenter, Richard Malach, saying he was young and inexperienced and had
made an error of judgment while attempting to present an edgy programme. It
also issued an apology on its website and offered Mr Galloway the
opportunity to appear on the station, which had a very small audience. Only
36 people were listening online at the time of the offending show.

The programme was also broadcast over the radio to an area in north-west
London with a three-mile radius.

But Mr Galloway said he pursued the case as the station's apology fell
short of the categorical retraction of the imputation of anti-Semitism that
I insisted upon.

Jeremy Silverstone, the head of Jcom, said he was disappointed that the case
had led to the downfall of the capital's only Jewish radio station.(The
Independent)

[HCDX] New radio station planned by Belgian troops in DR Congo

2008-08-16 Thread Arnaldo
Members of the Belgian armed forces in the Congolese province of West-Kasai
are planning to set up a radio station to inform the local population about
why they are there, and what they are doing. Technical and editorial staff
will be recruited locally. This isn’t the first such radio station operated
by the Belgian forces. Earlier there was a similar station, Radio Rafiki, in
Eastern Congo.

There are about 30 Belgian troops in Kananga, the capital of West Kasai in
the centre of DR Congo, where they are giving training to the Congolese
army.

Russia, 7300, Voice of Russia, 1000-1030+ Noted a female in Chinese or
Mandarin language comments. Bridge music between segments. Relay site for
this transmission is listed as Khabarovsk
located in the Far East of Russia. A parallel transmission was received on
7330 KHz which is probably relayed via Vladivostok
also in the Far East of Russia. The 7300 KHz relay was steady at
a good level, while the 7330 KHz relay was fair. (Chuck Bolland,
August 16, 2008)

Bolivia, 6134.80, Radio Santa Cruz, 1026-1040 At tune in heard a
male in Spanish Language comments. This was only a couple of minutes before
canned ID and promos/ADs presented. Mentions of
en Santa Cruz once in awhile during ADs and promos. Signal was
good during the period. (Chuck Bolland, August 16, 2008)

Russia, 5920, Radio Rossii, 1038-1045, With a male and female in
Russian language conversation. This over WBOH in Spanish, which is loosing
out on this frequency with Rossii. Signal from Rossii is fair to
good while WBOH fades down to poor. (Chuck Bolland, August 8, 2008)

Unid, 5940, 1045-1110 Noted a weak station here which sounds
like they are using the Russian Language. Station is too weak for
me to hear the details. At 1058 some sort of IS is heard followed
by comments. On the hour time ticks heard, but splatter covers the
rest of the details. The previous mentioned programming continues
however, after the hour. (Chuck Bolland, August 16, 2008)

London's only Jewish community radio station has been forced to cease
broadcasting after losing a High Court libel case brought against it by the
Respect MP George Galloway.

Jcom, a non-profit station which broadcast online and to a small area in
north-west London, was wound up after it was told to pay the MP damages of
?15,000.

Mr Galloway sued the station after one of its presenters played a spoof
character based on the MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, and implied he was
anti-Semitic. It was also ordered to pay Mr Galloway's court costs, thought
to be ?5,000. Mr Galloway said that the judgment had categorically crushed
the slur of anti-Semitism.

During a broadcast in November, a presenter who called himself Georgie
Galloway, the station's Middle East correspondent, used the catchphrase,
kill the Jews, kill the Jews. The station immediately sacked the
presenter, Richard
