Re: [HCDX] New external service fromn Libya
Any idea of an address to try for a QSL? Jim Pogue Memphis, Tennessee USA - Original Message - From: Anker Petersen anker.peter...@mail.dk To: HCDX hard-core-dx@hard-core-dx.com Sent: Monday, October 24, 2011 2:24:13 PM Subject: [HCDX] New external service fromn Libya Dear DX-friends, I listened to Libya this afternoon( Oct 24) at 1610-1735 UTC on 11600.00 kHz which had a broadcast in French with SINPO 35433 - 45443 and S up to 9+30 dB, but a very muffled voice audio. Their audio of music was perfect: Vienna waltzes and light instrumental music which was often played! They had frequent, new ID's: Radio Libye, Tripoli and Ici Radio Télévision Libye, Tripoli. This obviously has replaced the former Gaddafi names Libyan Jamahariyah Broadcasting Corporation and the external service Voice of Africa. Mostly talks on the same time schedule as former Voice of Africa in French about the revolution and future democracy in Libya, about the obduction of the corpse of Muammar Gaddafi, the declaration of military victory of Libya in Benghazi and the democratic election yesterday in Tunisia and about developments in Syria. All was very different content to what was heard on the Voice of Africa! Slight QRM from *1700 from CRI, Baoji in Swahili, then 54443. [HCDX] WHBC 1480 Canton, OH 3/29/08 DX Test still a go
Fellow DXers, My apologies for taking so long to update everyone on this DX Test, but I wasn't able to talk with WHBC Chief Engineer Dale Lamm until today, plus I have been traveling all day and just now have made it to where I can work on e-mails. After a lengthy and informative conversation with Dale, he feels it is best that we proceed with the DX Test on the 29th as scheduled, although he will be using WHBC's standard night pattern and power. He does intend to include special test features like Morse code and sweep tones, probably inserted during some standard breaks. This should still significantly improve the chances of hearing WHBC's signal at greater distances. Thanks to Dale for conducting the test, and I know we are all grateful for him taking the time and trouble to air the special program inserted into their standard Fox Sports Channel fare. 73s, Jim Pogue IRCA/NRC Joint BTC Coordinator Memphis, TN ---[Start Commercial]- Order your WRTH 2008: http://www.hard-core-dx.com/redirect2.php?id=wrth2008 ---[End Commercial]--- Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/ ___ THE INFORMATION IN THIS ARTICLE IS FREE. [HCDX] Old photos of USCG Radio Station Guam/NRV
I just received a group of photos taken at USCG Radio Station Guam/NRV in the early 1980s. This was when Morse code was still alive and well, along with 500 kHz CW, etc. SITOR was just beginning to get off the ground and SATCOMM was not even in the Coast Guard's vernacular (at least not on Guam!). If anyone would like copies of the photos, I'll be happy to send them. Likewise, if someone wants to post them somewhere, I'm sure that will be OK too. 73s, Jim Pogue Memphis, TN NRV 1980-84 ---[Start Commercial]- Preorder your WRTH 2007: http://www.hard-core-dx.com/redirect2.php?id=wrth2007 ---[End Commercial]--- Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/ ___ THE INFORMATION IN THIS ARTICLE IS FREE. [HCDX] NEW TIME for WIGG Test
I spoke with Paul Turner, CE at WIGG today and he is ready to go with the test this weekend. The time for the test has been changed, however. It is now 3:00 - 4:00 a.m. Central STANDARD Time. Here are the details: WIGG-1420 Wiggins, MS DX Test Date: Sunday morning (late Saturday night), Nov. 4, 2007. Time: 3:00 AM to 4:00 AM Central STANDARD Time [Please note, this will be the morning we change from DST to standard time in most of North America, but Paul is aware of this and will run the test on STANDARD time] Modes of Operation: 5,000 watts using non-directional antenna pattern. Programming: Programming will consist of special voice announcements, morse code, tones and classic country music. Paul says to especially listen for Floyd Kramer music, one of his favorite artists. He also says DXers are welcome to call him as he will be running the test live from the station. His number (no collect calls please) is 601-964-0005. Good luck to everyone. Re: [HCDX] [IRCA] Richard Wood has died
Geez ... what a loss. And he just a year or two ago got involved in DXing again after a long hiatus. Our hobby has lost another of the great ones. This is so sad. Jim Pogue - Memphis -- Original message -- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Patrick Martin) I just received the sad news from friend Ginny Boehnke, (wife of Chuck Boehnke, who passed 3 years ago), that Richard Wood of Hawaii died yesterday of a Heart Attack. He was 67. He appareently has had heart troubles the past couple of years. Ginny got this information from Richard Wood's tenant. The tenant said that Richard Wood had no relatives and had no will. So is all I know. She wanted me to pass on the information. 73, Patrick Patrick Martin KAVT Reception Manager ___ IRCA mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---[Start Commercial]- Preorder your WRTH 2007: http://www.hard-core-dx.com/redirect2.php?id=wrth2007 ---[End Commercial]--- Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/ ___ THE INFORMATION IN THIS ARTICLE IS FREE.
