** MEXICO. 710.0, July 9 at 0554 UT, Mexican NA is ending, fanfare and into
`Soy Soldado` recitation, 0558 Chihuahua state anthem. XEDP, Ciudad Cuauhtémoc,
again going thru the same routine as last night but now 10 minutes earlier.
AND, tonight it`s not off-frequency to approx. 709.815 making an audible het,
but within subaudible-het range of KCMO; did they read my report in the
meantime? But I think it has jumped off and on frequency before (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. Sporadic E DX openings continue; we`re enjoying them while possible
during the summer, especially since analog telecasts are being phased out after
2015, earlier in some parts. July 9, all UT:

1520 on 2, fade-in Spanish with antenna SSW; back out in a few seconds

1603 on 2, anchorette fades in again

1612 on 2, Televisa net 2 star bug in lower right; some audio; 1614 soccer recap

[no observations 1645-1925]

1928 on 2, algo CCI

1930 on 2, Azteca news promo, soccer, from SSW, Azteca-7 bug UR

1940 on 2, different station with 2:40 clock (CDT) in LR, and maybe temp,
kidvid with clown?

UT July 10:

May have missed some late July 9 and early July 10 as involved in World of
Radio 1729 produxion

0137 on 2, Pacífico 3 bug in UR, which means one of three known Grupo Pacífico
outlets on 2 in Sinaloa, Sonora; also glimpsed with it, I think, a Televisa-9 =
Gala TV swirl bug in LR

0210 on 2, from SW, algo with heavy fading, maybe same as above

0212 on 2, novela with Televisa-2 star bug LR; better at 0220

0221 on 4, Azteca-7 bug in UR with YL in studio

0225 on 4, 20 kHz CCI, meaning an offset plus vs an offset minus, i.e. many
very thin beat bars

0228 on 2 and 4, // audio from novela; 4 has Azteca-13 bug in UR

0235 on 87.75, ch 6 audio on FM receiver, novela, briefly

0235 on 5, béisbol, with numbers in LR, time or scoring? Peaks SSW

0244 on 3, béisbol here but different bug setup: large white one in UR

0300 on 2 and 4, heavy CCI

0303 on 3, soccer with square XHBC bug in LR, easily recognizable as previously
described, so Mexicali BCN, further to the northwest

0306 on 3, XHBC is really a newscast with other topix, 0315 better; also CCI on
2, 4, and 5 now, but 3 has the least, altho ghosty

0337 on 6, political speech, very good peak, with audio, yet now I am not
getting audio on 87.75 FM. Televisa-2 star bug in UR

0356 on 4, local promo/ad for talent show mentions Coahuila, CCI; so likely
XELN-TV Torreón

0358 on 4, novela VG with Televisa-2 star bug in LR

0409 on 5, still-slide labeled María Benítez, apparently to go with audio-only
correspondent report. Also crawler abottom about lots of rain expected due to
low-pressure area. Can`t make out bug in LR. One Mexiperson by that name is
Linked In, but I am not

CCI on several channels continues, but I tire of trying to dig anything out of
it

0436 on 4, algo; soccer on 2, but can`t be a live game now

0451 on 2, soccer, now with Televisa-9 Gala swirl bug in lower left

0510, finally mostly gone

(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 15120-AM, July 9 at 0548, VON on the air for the third night in a
row! Good signal; now if they would only turn up the modulation so we can hear
it (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1729, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 9600, July 9 at 0542, here`s Station YHWH for the second time
on this frequency; poor with fading (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1729, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 88.3, July 10 at 0245 UT, ``Gospel Station Network``, music,
steady signal, not Es as I am hoping for with TVDX from Mexico now. 88.3
remains one of my best frequencies open for DX with nothing strong local, but
unfortunately(?) area tropo is up, also blocking many other Mexican
possibilities. At 0302 UT, ID as KTGS Tishomingo and also for a station in
Duncan. (KOSR in Stillwater is normally the station heard marginally here on
88.3, but it`s overcome.)

>From WTFDA FM DB, KTGS is 5.5/5.5 kW H/V and 281/281 m HAAT H/V. The Duncan
>station would be K241BM, 205 watts allegedly relaying KGVB. KGVB is 90.9 in
>Holliday TX (near Wichita Falls). ``The Gospel Station`` slogan is rather
>generic, but searching on that brings up several other stations in OK,
>including KIMY 93.9 in Watonga, and its defunct translator in Enid, K226BR on
>93.1. It`s not clear whether all these stations are really related in the same
>network with // programming. Seems they are, plus a few scattered in other
>states:

Wikipedia says, ``KTGS (88.3 FM) is a radio station licensed to Tishomingo,
Oklahoma, USA. The station is currently owned by South Central Oklahoma
Christian Broadcasting, Inc. The flagship of The Gospel Station network based
in Ada, KTGS broadcasts a southern gospel format. In addition to its flagship
station, KTGS 88.3, The Gospel Station Network airs on 13 additional full
powered stations and 10 low powered translators``.

Radio-locator.com shows site is NE of Tishomingo while Ada itself is slightly
beyond the `local` contour. Distance to Enid about 158 miles (Glenn Hauser,
Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1728 monitoring: confirmed on WRMI 9955, Wednesday
July 9 at 1315, fair signal and no jamming. Also confirmed on webcast of WBCQ
7490, Wednesday July 9 at 2100.

WORLD OF RADIO 1729 monitoring: ready just in time for first broadcast on WRMI
9955, UT Thursday July 10 at 0331, confirmed with fair signal. Also second
airing July 10 until 1259 on 9955, sufficient on the main external E-W longwire
antenna to the FRG-7, well atop Taiwan, but on the inside longwire to the
DX-398, about equal level with the SAH QRM. Next:

UT Friday 0330v on WWRB 5050 (or like last week, 3185?)
Saturday 0630 & 1430 on Hamburger Lokalradio 7265-CUSB
UT Sunday 0030 on WRMI 9495 (may be previous episode)
UT Sunday 0130 on KVOH 9975 (NEW! Thanks to Ray Robinson)
UT Monday 0300v on Area 51 via WBCQ 5110v-CUSB
Monday 2100 on WRMI 15770 (NEW)
Tuesday 1100 on WRMI 9955
Wednesday 0630 & 1430 on Hamburger Lokalradio 7265-CUSB
Wednesday 1315 on WRMI 9955
Wednesday 2100 on WBCQ 7490v

Errata and clarifications, WOR 1729 (minor things that would take a lot of time
and trouble to correct on the recording, not noticed until I played it back
myself):
About Canadian TVDX: mainly on channel 2, not 3 as I mis-spoke
Diego Garcia log by Wilkner: July 2/3, not June
Germany, successor to retiring Walter Brodowsky, spelling name of Michael Pütz,
I said ``p-umlaut t zed`` instead of ``p-u-umlaut --``
Toward the end about ``the end of shortwave broadcasting`` and of DSWCI, I
should have mentioned it stands for Danish Shortwave Club International (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 5085, July 9 at 0552, *still* open carrier/dead air from WTWW-2
instead of Brother Scare, 24 hours after first noted, and 12+ hours since
previous check on 9930. Was it still dead air thru the past dodekahour? I
should have kept monitoring thru the afternoon and evening. Next check at 1059,
BS is back! Not that I am dying to hear him.

5830, July 10 at 0608, WTWW-1 is off, but 5085 is on with BS. All the missing
airtime of WTWW-1 must also be affecting income at Scriptures for America
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1729, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 11635, July 9 at 0545, WHRI still on here, VG with hymns. Contrary to
Ivo Ivanov`s report that the frequency had not been heard at all for two weeks
as of July 8 (I think I also tuned across it July 8, but not noteworthy to
log). The other Bulgarian monitor, Rumen Pankov, says it`s at 0530-0600 only
instead of 0430-0600, every day except unchecked on Friday.

0529 UT Thursday July 10 I`m standing by on 11635, and on it comes a few
seconds before *0530, right into music with no ID or any announcement. It`s a
bigsig here, hard to believe on the 47 degree azimuth registered in HFCC,
northeast- rather than northwest-ward (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 750, July 9 at 0559 UT, KAMA El Paso TX is back after absence a
couple nights, Spanish atop WSB so again out of whack. 0602 call-in from
somewoman in Los Ángeles (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VIETNAM [and non]. 12000, July 9 at 1259, tune in to hear tail of World
Harvest Radio ID, poor signal with flutter, so surely not WHRI but T8WH?
However, neither found on any of the schedules, so brand new? 1300 into
Chinese. Upon reflexion, I think it must have been receiver overload from the
superstrong 11880 WHRI transmitter which closes at 1300, mixing with VOV
(providing the flutter) which goes from Russian to Chinese at this hour
legitimately on 12000 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
