On the evening of Wednesday, April 16, the renowned and prominent
pastor, Dr. Édgar Amílcar Madrid, passed away. He was originally from
Chiquimula and had a long career as a preacher of the word of God. He
founded the Evangelical Friends of Holiness Church, which currently
has seven churches throughout the country. He also founded the Quaker
Theological Seminary and the radio station, Radio Verdad.
He was a professor at the Chiquimula Experimental Institute, a
musician, composer, writer, theologian, inventor, and possessed many
other gifts that God allowed him to develop here on earth. He was
recognized as a Guatemalan scientist during the Álvaro Arzú
administration and received awards such as "La Muta de Oro,"
"Francisco Marroquín," and "La Orden del Quetzal," among others.
With his extensive knowledge, he trained musicians, broadcasters,
Sunday school teachers, professors, theologians, and many
professionals who today represent the development of Guatemala and
other Latin American countries. Without a doubt, Dr. Madrid leaves a
void in those whose lives gave them the opportunity to experience all
his skills and talents, without blemish, in keeping with God's
command.
We join in the grief of his daughter, Edna Edith Madrid, and all the
members of the Friends of Holiness Church. Heaven is celebrating; a
servant of God who fought throughout his life to teach the truth of
the gospel here on earth has passed away. May God receive him in his

with that imaginary global satellite shortwave network, but also, and
very recently, with the purchase of a new transmitter to resume
broadcasting on traditional shortwave on 4055 kHz.
Because of this latest scam, I believe they left him without the
little money he had, causing him great disappointment. Just a few
months ago, he was very excited about the arrival of that nonexistent
new transmitter from Germany, allowing him to return to shortwave.
The poor man fell into the hands of unscrupulous people who kept
deceiving him and demanding more and more money for something that
would never arrive. People tried to warn him about how fictitious it
all was, but he was so sure it was true that he never listened to
anyone. Rest in peace.``
