** AUSTRALIA. 2325, Sept 19 at 1230, ABC News on the hour, almost readable, //
weaker 2485 and much stronger 4835; not // the ABC TV news hour on 9580 Radio
Australia (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 11780, Sept 19 at 0306 and later, RNA is OFF, while S9+35 on 6180.
Certainly not a propagation problem, as the several weakling ZYs on 25m are
still audible: 11934.7, 11925.2, 11854.9, 11815.0, 11764.7 plus more on 31m
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ERITREA. 7175, Sept 19 at 0322 and 0355 chex, nothing now from VOBME nor
Ethiopian DRM jamming. A brief reactivation, to be gone again for months?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** GREECE. 11645, Sept 19 at 0532, very poor S2-S4 signal probably Arabic
segment, during the foreign-language hour of Voice of Greece, but nothing on
9420 (or 9935) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDONESIA. 9525.897, Sept 19 at 1302, VOI is barely audible with some
modulation today, YL with VOI ID detected. Song at 1343. Some hum is on
transmission I can`t get rid of by precise tuning. Was hoping it would be
better today after good reception of Thailand 9390 during preceding semihour.
May VOI continue to improve? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** IRAN. 11660, Sept 19 at 0308, song sounds south Asian? very poor. Aoki
shows VIRI`s Arabic Al-Quds TV service is here, i.e. for Palestine, at
0230-0530, 500 kW, 289 degrees from Zahedan (but here too is CNR2 from Xianyang
594 site in mid-China) (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1300, UT Monday Sept 19 at 0333, ``La Hora de Chihuahua`` is
starting, ``complementaria de La Hora Nacional``, so of course it`s XEP in
Ju?rez as usual the dominant night signal here despite listed 200 watts. It
seems that LHN is really ``Media Hora Nacional``, the second half being turned
over to state/local government programs.

Will I hear the same thing on other Chihuahua stations? First to check is 800,
XEROK, but can`t get enough signal past 2.5 kW KQCV OKC, despite a close to
90-degree null. Which reminds me, that XEROK for quite a while now has seemed
to be underpowered again, far less than 50, let alone 150 kW, wasting its
exalted clear-channel status across western North America (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1510, UT Monday Sept 19 at 0331, ``La Radio Alternativa`` mentioned
several times in station promo roughly from south amid heavy QRM, the newish
XEQI in Monterrey NL, in IRCA Log as ``La Nueva Radio``, but now Alternativa is
its name per NL government roster:
http://www.nl.gob.mx/radio-y-television-de-nuevo-leon
IRCA and WRTH list as 10 kW daytimer, but IRCA adds it`s 24 hours. This might
have been preceding a local PS to La Hora Nacional as on several other
stations. Same page also linx to streaming and download of ``Nuevo Le?n en la
Hora Nacional --- Descarga y escucha aqu? este programa conducido por Gregorio
Bernal y Roci? [sic] Zubiria``.
Here`s the 1510 program schedule:
http://www.nl.gob.mx/publicaciones/programacion-de-radio-alternativa-1510-am
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1050, UT Monday Sept 19 at 0334, XEG talking about events in
Monterrey and Nuevo Le?n, as it`s doing its own local PS to La [Media] Hora
Nacional. (Checking for this after Chihuahua stuff on XEP 1300, q.v.)

990, XET MTY however, is just playing music at 0335+ Sept 19.

660, UT Monday Sept 19 at 0345, segment about cine estrenos in Monterrey, not
// 1050, or at least not synchronized. So this must be XEFZ, 10/1 kW ABC Radio
in MTY, another PS to La Media Hora Nacional.

570, UT Monday Sept 19 at 0347, seems same show as on 660, q.v., ``En Escena``
segment about new film releases, but not synchronized with sibling station to
this, XEBJB, 5/0.5 kW also in Monterrey (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 540, Sept 19 at 1202, DJ calls himself Osman Ram?rez, buenos d?as,
says news will start at 7 am and into romantic music now at 6 am local.
Presumably usual XETX, Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 820, Sept 19 at 1206, ID as ``820, ABC Radio``, so XEABCA, Mexicali
BCN, music making usual slow SAH with WBAP nulled (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** NETHERLANDS [non]. 7570, Sept 19 at 0100, WRMI starts the PCJ Radio
International special, part 3 of From the Archives of Radio Netherlands. VG
signal of course pre-empting Brother HyStairical. This one presents drama,
which requires undivided attention to follow, and unfortunately I can`t do that
now, but rechex before 0300 confirm the entire two hours did air (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NORTH AMERICA. 6930-USB, Sept 19 at 0321, hard rock music at S6. Still going
at 0351, no IDs heard at pauses, 0354 spooky music, stops about 0403. Several
lengthy logs here did get XLR8 IDs:
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,30028.0.html
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. Re my report that KTOK 1000 OKC carried Dodgers baseball on UT
Sunday Sept 11, Neil Kazaross replies, ``Yep, I did some googling and OKC's
minor league teams is the Dodgers affiliate so this may explain KTOK. 73 and
thx KAZ PS hoping some TP audio can make it to you.``

It never occurred to me that there could be a Dodgers BB team other than the
one in Los ?ngeles. You may find it incredible that an Okie resident would not
know the name of the MiLB team in OKC, but I consider it a badge of honor as I
detest stupid ballgames and all the wasted attention and $$$$$$$$$$$ they
attract. I only have to deal with them in connexion with radio logs. I also
avoid the sports segments on local TV newscasts, but must say I have never
noticed anything about the OKC Dodgers in football-crazy Oklahoma. BTW, I`m all
for physical-fitness, just not watching/idolizing others with it (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** RUSSIA. 7295, Monday Sept 19 at 1238, no signal from R. Sakha, which should
be on until 1400 weekdays. Wonder if their scheduling has changed now that the
``elexions`` are over, like apparently has 5900 Vladivostok (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOLOMON ISLANDS [non]. 5020, Sept 19 at 1233, no signal from SIBC, so no
prolonged transmission today; but I am getting plenty of carriers on
Indian/Tibetan/Chinese 60m frequencies: 5050, 5040, 5010, 4970, 4920, 4910,
4895 with audio, 4870, 4820, 4810, 4800 music, 4760, 4750 talk. Not to mention
the regular strong ones on 4940, 4885, 4835 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** SUDAN. 7206, Sept 19 at 0322, no signal here from off-frequency Omdurman,
but by 0355, carrier is on, and still a JBA carrier at 0517 (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** THAILAND. 9390, Sept 19 at 1241, HSK9 is S9+10 today at unusually good
listening level during commercial for Westin Bangkok hotel, all the alcoholic
mixed drinx at their bar; finally back to ``evening news on Radio Thailand, FM
88``, such as the bad political situation in Cambodia (never mind Thailand!);
killer haze out of Indonesia into Singapore, Malaysia; other Asian news except
for NYC bombing; 1252 more ads prior to Business Update segment, ID as Radio
Thailand from the Public Relations Department of the Royal Thai Government, AM
918, 88.1`` and two other FM frequencies, but no shortwave! Ad for Mayflower
Restaurant, with Cantonese cuisine. Cuts off abruptly during biznews at
1259:35*, geez.

Back on a few seconds later with weaker signal after beam change, full ID in
English, as Radio Thailand via Udon Thani, for Asia, Pacific, Middle East,
Africa, Europe and America. And then into Japanese. The azimuth switch should
have been from 132 to 54 degrees, the latter theoretically more favorable for
us; did they get them backwards, or strange sidelobes? This SE Asian service in
English is surely our best chance to hear R. Thailand, not the virtually
inaudible so-called N American service at 0000-0330 on 15590 alternating 6 and
38 degrees. HSK9 should have insisted on access to VOA Greenville, not just
Udorn (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** TURKEY. 15450, Sept 19 at 1326, VOT IS at S6 keeps playing past 1328 as IDs
start to be inserted for presumed next broadcast after English, i.e. Kazakh,
but off before 1330, maybe made the QSY in time (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1843 monitoring: confirmed Sunday Sept 18 at 2330 on
WBCQ 9329.775-CUSB, fair S9. Also confirmed after 0030 UT Monday Sept 19 on
WRMI 7730, good. Also confirmed at midpoint 0315 UT Monday Sept 19 on Area 51
via WBCQ 5129.87-AM, S9+10. Also confirmed UT Monday Sept 19 at 0330 on WRMI
9955, S9. Next:
Mon 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Tue 1100 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Tue 2130 WRMI 15770 to NE
Tue 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Wed 1315.5 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v to WSW
Wed 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. I update WRMI World Music hours each time I find a new one:
0000-0100 Tue-Sat 7730 285 deg
0100-0300 Sunday *7570 315 deg [and any other days? Or one-off?]
0700-0800 Tue-Fri 7730 285 deg
1300-1400 Mon-Fri 11580 44 deg
1400-1500 Mon-Fri? *11580 44 deg [heard Mon Sep 19 and regularly]
1700-1800 daily *13695 315 deg
2000-2100 Mon-Sat 11580 44 deg
* = unlisted as such on the WRMI schedules
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7505, Sept 19 at 0324, WRNO is OFF again. One of our most unreliable
SW stations --- will they ever get serious? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 5890 & 3215, Sept 19 at 0521, the two WWCR frequencies supposed to be
carrying Brother Scare are dead air, while the other two, 4840 and 5935, are
nominal. And BS is OK on WRMI 5765, 5850, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.,
etc., etc., etc. (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. Based on a later log Sept 6 and Greg Hardison`s info, I think this
one must also have been WMGC in Murfreesboro TN, rather than KSWV Santa Fe NM,
off the hook:

``810, August 1 at 0215 UT, romantic music in Spanish loops east-west, which
rules out M?xico and makes it very likely New Mexico`s KSWV Santa Fe. Dominant
signal making fast SAH with something, CO or MO? Segu?s 0216 UT, 0220 UT with
no announcements at all, but the final tune cut short at 0221 UT to dead air,
0223 UT off the air. Or rather maybe cut from 5000 to 10 watts night power U1
per NRC AM Log. FCC official July sunset was 0215 UT; August: 0200 UT``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 774, Sept 19 at 1158 UT, a few minutes before sunrise, JBA
carrier here looping NW, so NHK; then find others on 684, 693, 828. Only 684 is
not a superpower NHK; could be N Korea or China (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1060, Sept 19 at 1208 UT, ``buenos d?as`` song, loops WSW, makes
fast SAH with others, perhaps KIJN Farwell TX, which John Johnson, AZ, reports
hearing again; had been off for a year or two, but before that was also
significantly off-frequency. QRM from another SS talking at 1213 UT. Probably
getting both KIJN and KXPL El Paso TX, but no definite ID yet for either. Last
time I logged any audio from KIJN was Oct 7, 2014 as in the DXLD 16-37 r?sum?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** ALBANIA. 9854.95, Sept 20 at 0135, R. Tirana with humroar at S3, no program
modulation to be heard (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** BRAZIL. 11780, Sept 20 at 0112, RNA is back on tonight at usual very good
level and no spurs, having been AWOL last night (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** GREECE. 9935, Sept 20 at 0101, VOG mentioning Federico Garc?a Lorca, who
wasn`t exactly Greek, but then some music. // equal level 9420. Had not heard
it on 9935 for a while (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** PERU. 5980, Sept 20 at 0057, JBA carrier from R. Chaski, until autocutoff at
0058:48*, which is 13 seconds later than last check Sept 18 until 0058:35* (and
date on that log was incorrect: not Sept 17 but Sept 18), i.e. typical average
slippage of 6.5 seconds later per (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SRI LANKA. 11905, Sept 20 at 0115, JBA S-0.5 carrier from SLBC, but enough
to detect the mis-timesignal ending at 0115:17 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1843 monitoring: confirmed Monday Sept 19 at 2330 on
WBCQ 9329.919-CUSB (preceded by Allan Weiner plug for fundraiser, not just IS &
ID; and 9330v is off after 0100, no AWWW playback). Next WORs:
Tue 1100 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Tue 2130 WRMI 15770 to NE
Tue 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Wed 1315.5 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v to WSW
Wed 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 13695, Monday Sept 19 at 2100, WRMI with `La Rosa de Tokio`,
historical media program from Argentina, this week all about the song `Lili
Marleen`, how it was a favorite of the Nazis until they lost the battle of
Stalingrad, and then became beloved of all sides in the War. Played several
versions of it in German, Italian, French, English, Dutch? Nice how such a
specialized topic can be stretched to fill almost an hour (until 2153, then
music fill). Excellent reception as usual on this bigsig aimed right at us,
suitable for max musical bandwidth on the R-75 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)

** U S A. 9275, Monday September 19 at 1902 check, WMLK is still on, having
reactivated on Sept 16; hearing on both the G8 and the BST-1, fair signal with
DEJOM pontificating about Topic Y. Still there at 2047 recheck, but off
sometime around 2100 on R75 check (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1060, Sept 20 at 0131 UT, praise music in Spanish with slight edge
over the CCI; 0134 ID as ``KIJN, desde Farwell, Tejas --- testimonios,
adoraci?n``, website and postal address, ``y mil bendiciones``. Call letters
pronounced in Spanish. Not exactly a gringo accent, but not true Mexican accent
either. So confirmed reactivated after almost two years. Is 10 kW daytimer,
slightly skewed directional circular pattern favoring the WNW, but plenty this
way too. Guess what? Official FCC sunset for KIJN in September was 0100 UT
(October: 0015 UT). Back to their old trix; will carrier and/or modulation stay
on all night? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1170, Sept 20 at 0128 UT, KFAQ Tulsa once again has gospel huxter
undercurrent, so WWVA OH is back to out-of-whack pattern not protecting us from
it, altho had not been audible last few nights. At 0130 UT both of them go to
news headline break (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1520, Sept 20 at 0123 UT, ``Sports-radio 1520 The Ticket`` ID audible
under KOKC OKC just as I tune in; the usual cheatin` KOLM Rochester MN,
10000/800 watts really messing up KOKC, which has degraded itself from
50000/50000 watts U2 as listed in the NRC AM Log 2016, to perpetual(?) STA of
10000/10000 U1 --- are they ever going to repair their antennas? (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Apparently, the fine folks at Kaito USA think Alaska is a US protectorate
and not one of the 50 US states, therefore ebay orders from them
(multimeter_depot or Montclair, CA) wont ship to Alaska or Hawaii...

But guess what? Ordering off their website kaitousa.com results in you
being able to ship to Alaska via priority mail.. which costs no more in a
flat rate box then to somewhere in the lower 48!

So, I sent a message to the ebay account of yours and asked why your
company doesnt ship ebay sales to alaska and hawaii. Jason replied with

"Sorry, we had many problems with US protectorates order, so we decided to
ship to 48 states only.."

And then when I try and call Kaito USA's Toll free number, it says the toll
free number I've called can't be dialed from my area.

Kaito USA must really not want any business from Alaska or Hawaii. Well
guess what? I'll buy my next Tecsun PL880 from Anon-Co in China I guess!

I've bought 2 PL880's in the last month. I';ll gladly put my money
somewhere that my business is wanted
