I think installs is an unsolved problem. The #1 issue with Linux right now.
Yum and CentOS is a nightmare. Maybe for RHEL and FC5 too? karan has some apps
built for CentOS but FC5 built apps are more generally found. Often you can
only get the source and have to build the app itself!

Thanks for the advice. CentOS may be the one for me. I am now used
to RH and like their tools, so I would like to stay in that vein.
That is why I chose Fedora. But it looks like I should try something
