I think that this has something to do with getting the pharmaceutical companies and FDA on board with having the drug information use SNOMED terminology so that electronic medical records, etc., will be more likely to have ability to look for drug interactions and adverse event information,

I asked Dr Steve Brown for a bit more information and received some of the following:   FDA is going to use a subset of of SNOMED CT to represent problems in the structured labeling hilites section (a new part of the label that has important stuff in an easy to read format). They are putting out
