Yeah, it's one of those options that has to run on reboot just like the
regular more-complete boot time defragging. I only had to do the MFT
re-sizing stuff once though, and it's been fine...

Find out what ports your wirewall does allow and then setup VNC on that port.
It's actually easier than you think. Some common ones:
HTTP aka Web traffic: 80
FTP traffic: 20/21
SSH: 22
SMTP: 25
POP: 110
