Re: [H] External drive issue

2013-07-29 Thread Tim Lider
I've also noticed that AMD chipset motherboards have this problem as well. I
only have a problem with large files copy to external HD's on one computer at
the shop and it is a AMD system. Although, I have no problems with the nVidia
intel based motherboards.

I do not know if the OP has stated if it is an USB 2 or USB 3 HD. If USB 2 it
could be that he should try another port, same if it is USB 3 :) It may fix the
problem.

I do not have problems on the Intel machines with Windows 7 64 bit or Windows 8
64 bit. I copy images and backup files that are in upwards to 200GB each with no
problems. Also, note all motherboards are Asus (except for Dell machine used for
Data Checks).

Tim,
Thank you. You have helped keep rampant speculation in check.
I only learned about this glitch here on the List. As I do not generally
copy/move files of these sizes, I have never seen/experienced this
glitch. Asus P5Q3 m/b.

[H] Change of status

2013-07-29 Thread DSinc
As a founding member of our List, I have decided to move from
semi-active to Lurker status.
It seems that most on our List now use W7 or W8. I do not. I still use
WinXPpro.
BTW, 'Geforce Experience' does not work on WinXP. Shame on me. No
trouble, I just

removed it!
Yes, I do have an upgrade plan, and I will do it...in my time.
I find that our Hardware List has gelled down to just about anything
loosely associated with

'hardware.' Fine. This is the will of the List. I do accept evolution.
Please enjoy our List in the future. I remain amazed that we are still
truckin'!

Best,
Duncan

Everyone is a lurker on this list. I'm not sure why you feel the need
for a change in status.
I think the old Win95 list is still around in some form or fashion. You
may find more folks there using XP than here.

Duncan,
I've been a lurker since the over-clocking list and have always been
behind the technology curve. I liked XP and when my old motherboard and
single core Athalon got flaky, moved to Win7 last yearand a Sandy Bridge
I5 mainly because I needed to run Autodesk Revit. It is so blazingly
fast compared to what I've been used to and I am so painfully slow the
older I get, I suspect this platform is where I'll remain. I have very
little to offer, but I enjoy the groupimmensely. I might have been the
last on the list to move to DSL. How did I survive! :-)
