Eric R. Kandel, M.D.  will open the conference. Dr. Kandel,  who was awarded
the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2000,  is a University Professor, the Fred
Kavli Professor and Director, Kavli Institute for Brain Sciences , Senior
Investigator, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Center for Neurobiology and
Behavior of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons
