This is an update for subscribers and users of the Index to Jewish
Periodicals.
1) The Index - available on EBSCO - has been updated with all the 2007
citations.This brings the number of citations in the 20-year machine
readable Index to Jewish Periodicals to about 237,000 total. We a

A sales rep from Ebsco is coming here next week to give me a shpiel
about the Index to Jewish Periodicals. I got a test version and have
been trying it out.
If anyone has any feedback, please send it to me directly. I also
remember hearing that someone in AJL was organizing a user group for

If anyone is interested in a consortium for Index to Jewish
Periodicals online, please let me know. Deborah Stern has spoken to
Ebsco and they are amenable. Once we know how much interest we have,
we can negotiate prices.

Does anyone know if there is a consortium for the new Ebsco database
Index for Jewish Periodicals? We have received a price quote of
$399-425 for a yearÂ’s subscription. This is quite a lot of money
considering that the CD for the same database is $155 if you are a

It is a wonderful idea to expand coverage, but since RAMBI is available free
online, it would be a good idea to choose those periodicals not covered by
RAMBI so that we get the broadest coverage using both tools.

The Index to Jewish Periodicals has been published in paper since
1963; we have published a CD-ROM version which includes citations
back to 1988, and last year we began to provide access to the Index
via Ebsco.
As of mid-2006, Ebsco began updating the Index online twic

Do your libraries subscribe to the Online version of the Index to
Jewish Periodicals? We have been buying the CD Rom version that is
not as convenient as having it online, but is about $500 cheaper.
Besides the convenience factor of being able to access it from the
departments,

I'm happy to announce that volume 41 of the Index to Jewish Periodicals,
covering January-December 2003, is currently at the printers. It will be
mailed to subscribers shortly after Pesach.
The CD-ROM version of the Index to Jewish Periodicals, which will allow
searching of 1988-2003 inclusive,
