Dear Friends and Colleagues,
By now you have seen the positing on Hasafran for the position I have
had the privilege to occupy for more the thirty years.
Yes, I am retiring. My decision was determined by two major factors,
my health and the times. Information needs change

I am writing to let you know that I will be retiring from my
position as Hebraica Cataloging Librarian at University of
Pennsylvania, effective January 2011, after thirty-six years.

As some of you are aware, I am retiring from the National Library of
Israel at the end of December.
I will still be professionally active as coordinator of the national
bibliographic network, as a consultant, and as head of the new master's
degree program in information science and
I would like to second Susan's words to Cheryl and to Esther - Kol
ha-kavod to both of you for rich careers that influenced many of us
and inspired us to continue to work in Judaica librarianship and be
dedicated to the efforts of AJL both locally and nationally.

I spoke with Esther and reiterated to her my personal appreciation

After 30 years as the Director of Library and Media Services at Ramaz
Upper School I am leaving my position at the close of this school
year. Since I am taking a part- time job in a non-profit agency I am
not exactly retiring, but it was time to seek employment with

Having reached the mandatory retirement age, I will retire at the end of
September and no longer be on the staff of the Institute of Microfilmed
Hebrew Manuscripts at the Jewish National Library.
It will take me about a year to complete some projects I began in the
