I've had several persons asking me if they knew the whereabouts of their relatives who come from or live in Galicia by the name of Popoplastakovaitchov. So we go through this Q and A-thing about to which Galicia we are referring. Once I had someone ask me for synagogues in Granada, as in Granada the island as opposed to Granada the city which last I looked was in SPAIN as opposed to the Carribbeann. I know that the u.s.a. once invaded the island of Granada and everyone on the island was quite surprised and mostly offered the Marines something to drink (it being hot and all and all that junk the marines were wearing was making the islanders hotter just looking at them).
So now I always ask for e-mail-ers to specify a continent just to narrow it down. My favourite is when I am asked about the whereabouts of the country of Palestine. The answer is usually: Nowhere unless you want to count the courtesy desk at the U.N. where they may still be selling t-shirts.
