Subject: [ha-Safran] Personal Libraries - Google Form
Dear Safranim/Safraniyot,

Dear Safranim/Safraniyot,
I am creating a Google form for personal libraries (based on the recent
Hasafran thread). If you have a personal collection and are looking for a good
home, let me know. I am keeping track and hopefully will a find a home for your
collection.

I think it would be easy enough to start it with something like a Google
Form leading to a Sheet - but someone would certainly have to be
responsible for maintaining it and providing the information when requested
(I'm not sure that people are always comfortable with collecting priorities

As a Judaica book dealer who often gets collections offered in distant cities
around the country would be useful to have such a list of new Judaica programs
or existing ones and what they are seeking in building their programs. I could
then refer the libraries to them for consideration.

I was thinking of this. One approach is to have a webpage on the AJL website
that is somewhat a Farmers' Market of sorts ... but with a few modifications,
such as only titles and contact information would be provided, without images.
Maintaining this page would require someone to oversee this.
We have spoken a bit about having a "marketplace" for collections, where
librarians can state what subjects they are looking for, and potential
donors can find the right libraries for their collections. It's hard to do
it in practice, but I'd love to hear any ideas about how to make it happen

As someone who has both reviewed collections and donated one (about 1500
volumes), I have a thought:
Those of us in academic libraries talk to our Judaica faculty. Where
are their students being placed? Do those young scholars want to add to
their colleges' libraries? There should be a
Check with any neighboring Holocaust centers to see if they are interested.
Also, I've been referred to Better World Books in the past, but I'm not
sure what their requirements are.

Question: if one has a very large personal library of judaica subjects such as
antisemitism, and it’s time to get rid of it, what do you do with all of it?
Asking for a friend.
