The Dorot Jewish Division supports the Access and Creating Strategic priorities in ensuring that our researchers have access to our main Judaica collections, which are housed and serviced within it. The LTA II position in the Dorot Jewish Division plays a critical role in supporting the technical activities for the Division. The position also provides excellent public service at the service desk for the Division. Prinicipal Responsibitlies: Under the supervision of the Division Curator and professional staff, the LTA II: - Supports technical activities in the Dorot Jewish Divison, including checking in periodicals and newspapers; responsible for bindery operations and archiving of periodicals and newspapers for offsite storage. - Provides excellent public service at the service desk for the Division - Assists users with reading room equipment, including public PC workstations, microfilm readers, and copy machines - Assists users with locating materials listed in the catalog - Processes new library cards and responds to inquiries about library card registration and policies - Updates and maintains holdings information for serials in the Library's catalog - Works in the online circulation system to check-in and check-out materials - Performs related duties including special projects, as required Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma; some college experience or Bachelor's degree preferred - Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate well with staff and the public - Strong organizational and planning skills, including the ability to handle work with accuracy - Demonstrated ability to work well independently as well as part of a team - Demonstrated reliability, flexibility and ability to exercise sound judgement - Demonstrated computer and technology-related skills - Must be willing to perform light physical labor: lifting up to 30 lbs.
