Many heartfelt thanks and much appreciation to the dedicated volunteer
organizers of the first-ever AJL virtual conference. As others have said
in previous posts, this was an amazing event from which I am certain we all
derived so much new knowledge and valuable information. Considering how
there was such a short turnaround time from when the original traditional
socially proximate conference was canceled, the results were particularly
striking! As Zachary noted, one drawback (a canceled
face-to-face-in-the-same-space event) turned into quite an asset as we got
to "meet" colleagues from places we haven't before and learn about their
incredible collections and latest projects. And the theme of the
conference, "Staying Connected" was absolutely fulfilled.

There are so many people to thank, so let's give a huge
*yasher-koyekh* and *kol
ha-kavod* to all the wonderful organizers listed in the Final Conference
Announcements e-mailed last night by Marcie Eskin & Rachel Kamin who
themselves as co-chairs of the Evanston physical conference deserve so much
praise and gratitude! And kudos as well to all the presenters, hosts,
technical experts, moderators, and everyone who participated.

Let's hope that we will not have a plague to contend with long before our
next annual conference in Chicago next year so that we can meet in a
conventional manner (unintended pun)!

I hope that all the hardworking organizers and participants can at least
take tomorrow off--if possible--catch their collective breath, and look
back with admiration and pride at the results of their work!

*Zise khaloymes, *everyone,
Elliot
