Joe, Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately, most of the data in the file is, apparently, "Vdata with column storage order", which h4mapwriter can't handle :-( I think, with all of the suggestions that I've gotten, I've got enough now to figure it all out and should hopefully have my problem
