Hi,
Hadoop could be starting hadoop by default. So please check if user hadoop
has write permission on directory /opt where data directory /opt/hdfs is
getting created.

What is the network topology ? Is it a 1Gbps or 10Gbps n/w ? It is
possible that network could be getting choked up causing the write time to
increase.

Hi Harold,
The error message "cannot find symbol" hints of not having necessary
libraries. Looks like it is trying to access Kerberos libraries which it is
unable to find. You can check if all the required Kerberos libraries are
available.
