No way to keep customized names when update-grub is applied?
(as GRUB1 did possible)

A nice improvement could be a new parameter for /etc/default/grub :
GRUB_LABELS_STRING=""
(If not specified or empty, update-grub or scripts behaviour should be
as today)
This new parameter should support some variables in it:
"${FS_LABEL} ${OS_NAME} (${KERN_NAME} ${KERN_VER}) - ${PARTITION}"

Did you try with GRUB_GFXMODE=1920x1080 ?

Has anybody reached to boot a Debian ISO image?
For example, installing GRUB2 on a USB stick with .iso files.
I've tried this with no luck:
submenu "debian-live-9.4.0-amd64-gnome.iso" {
iso_path="/debian-live-9.4.0-amd64-gnome.iso"
search --set=root --file $iso_path
loopback --delete
As far as I know, arguments there are not for GRUB software but to be
passed to kernel execution.

3. Register that new boot partition to /etc/fstab to be mounted on /boot
4. From a chroot environment at SSD root with /boot mounted:
grub-install to rotational disk
update-grub

My mistake was to do "grub-install /dev/sda" when I need to boot from

Now I've done "grub-install /dev/sdb" but I don't want GRUB messages

Thank you.

DKIM could be a good solution between servers but never implying neither
forwarding nor client software.
SPF is enough to solve the problems DKIM tries to, and SPF does not
complicate everybody's life.
PGP signatures and encryption is a much better solution for users, and
leaves DKIM with no
Please report recipes if you succeed with this.
I also have a multiboot USB (with .iso files) that does not work in new
scenarios.
