Re: guix-1.5.0 released [stable]
This is to announce guix-1.5.0, a stable release. Congratulations for the release!    :))) Reading the article on https://guix.gnu.org/blog/2026/gnu-guix-1.5.0-released/ I add some extra congratulations because of the improvement in the internal processes. This will surely have a very positive impact on the project. :) I was trying the previous version on a small old machine and am using it in my production machine as package manager installed over an old Debian. So I am not any guix expert. However, I'm ready and about to install GUIX as the only OS on my real production machine (i7, 16 Gb RAM, old but faithful Dell Latitude). So, a few questions before making the jump with the 1.5 version: 1. Assuming a complete user directory backup + a list of the minimum software needed (i3 or similar, emacs, orgmode, inkscape, zen browser, bitwarden, and a few more)... is it reasonable to expect that with a full day's work I'll be working again? (of course, full tweaking will continue for a looong time). ;) 2. Having some professional UX experience I plan to document my journey installing GUIX, hoping that it could be useful to make it clearer and simpler for other new users like me in the future. So, what is the best way to document what happened, my thoughts and potential paths ahead? (they will not be technical, but about cognition, information, interaction design and the like). 3. Is there anything special and/or important to give special attention during this installation, so it gives useful information for the project? I have no idea what could be, enabling some special logging, or options, or whatever. As always, thank you all very much for sharing so much work and dedication. I hope to be able to add my small grain of sand to this marvelous castle. :) Best... -- eduardo mercovich Donde se cruzan tus talentos con las necesidades del mundo, ahí está tu vocación. (Anónimo)
