Got it. Yeah tucking it could work, or maybe magnets to keep the inside of
the tarp attached to the wood.

 Hi all,

I'm in the process of building a yurt for the Gerlach regional, and I
had a quick design question. I've been googling around and haven't found
anything yet, so I'd love to hear if anyone has done something similar.

I was thinking about putting down six 2x4s in a hexagonal shape, laying
my ground tarp on top, then placing the hexayurt on top of that, so that
the walls of the hexayurt sit on the ground just outside of the 2x4
hexagon, with the tarp separating them. The tarp goes under the hexayurt
walls, then up over the "lip" formed by the 2x4s beneath it, then back to
the ground. The end result would be a raised tarp lip running around the
inside of the yurt, and the hope would be that any water that gets under
the yurt wall would be stopped there. I attached a quick drawing of how
 this might look.

It would mean transporting six long 2x4s, and a little bit of set up on
the playa, but it would mean not having to tape the tarp around the inside
 of the yurt.

Has anyone done something similar? Any thoughts on if this would work?
 Thanks!

Sure, I was just thinking about the tarp on the right hand of the drawing
if you were trying to close the door in a windstorm. You could tuck the
tarp under the 2x4 to ensure it wouldn't flap up.

I'm planning to build an H13 and frame around the door with brackets for
added strength and rigidity
(alá http://steampunkworkshop.com/pentayurt-for-burning-man/), so I'm
betting that the weight of the yurt will suffice to keep the tarp pinned
down.

I like it. My only concern would be keeping the outdoor section of the tart
flat against the 2x4 in the door section.
