Subject: [Histonet] Billing codes 2015

Hi,  I was wondering if anyone has heard of any new billing codes for 2015 in
regards to cytology, urology pathology or immunohistochemistry.  If so, could
you please share?

Thanks so much for your help.

[Histonet] Vantage patient tissue and + control slide labels

2014-12-08 Thread Davis, Cassie
Hi folks,
I am hoping to connect with somebody who has worked with Nexes (Ventana
software),Vantage and CoPath. When the Vantage labels are printing we cannot
tell the difference between the patient label and the positive control label.
Our LIS wants us to use the exact staining protocol for our patients and
controls but give a unique protocol number to the ones for positive controls.
(Red flags are popping up all over for me on this idea)
What do other labs do to handle this?

[Histonet] Environmental monitoring

2014-12-08 Thread Dessoye, Michael
Hi All,

Who do you like for environmental monitoring? I'm talking about in-lab
testing, not employee badging. We have a vendor that performs formaldehyde,
xylene, and acetic acid monitoring and we are considering a switch. Any input
is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

[Histonet] Angle of Wrist/Hands Using Microtome?

2014-12-08 Thread Smith, Denise
Hi all!

When I took HTL exam and there was a question on the exam that bothered me the
most but I cannot find an exact answer for it, had to guess! I'm very curious
about your thoughts on this. I have asked Histology Core and they weren't sure
about it either - wanted to share it with you guys if you know the official
answer for this!

The question was mainly about the angle of wrist/hands on the rotating
microtome and the degree must be correct so it won't cause any stress on
wrist/hands, it listed 4 different choices:

1. 30 degrees wrist down forward

2. 90 degrees straight without bending the wrist

3. 60 degrees wrist up backward

4. 60 or 90 degrees wrist down forward

(Please be gentle with me since I don't remember the EXACT numbers but those
were close to numbers provided.)

Thank you!

[Histonet] RE: Angle of Wrist/Hands Using Microtome?

2014-12-08 Thread Schumacher, Jennifer J
I am not an ergonomic expert, and can't back this statement with fact, but I
think that without bending the wrist is the key variable, as that is
considered a neutral position that would not harm the employee.

RE: [Histonet] RE: Angle of Wrist/Hands Using Microtome?

2014-12-08 Thread Marcum, Pamela A
One of our histologist uses a tennis ball on the end of his handle on the fly
wheel. He says it helps him keep his wrist level. I can see it allows him to
use less reach with his hand and his wrist is straighter than most. I really
need to try this myself someday. I was trained wrist straight as possible and
neutral if you wanted to avoid problems with you wrist and arm. The automated
microtomes are great for facing blocks as it cuts the shoulder action as well
as lower arm.
