[Britain membenarkan polis wanita muslimnya memakai hijab sewaktu bertugas.
Tertanya-tanya kita mengapa negara Firaun Baik tidak menggariskan apa-apa pun untuk
menaikkan imej polis wanitanya - apakah kerana mereka itu semua anjing belaka yang
tidak memerlukan sebarang pakaian sopan?
Sebaliknya Kerajaan Umno yang mengaku Malaysia negara Islam tidak berminatpun untuk
merangka pemakaian sedemikian. Malah ia membela pula pakaian yang terdedah sambil
memarahi JAIS serta memecat mufti pula. Bukan itu sahaja, ia membariskan Puteri Umno
dengan bekas ratu cantik badan untuk melariskan keahlian.
Sikap Britain bukan sahaja menaikkan imej wanita muslim, malah ia menunjukkan satu
pengiktirafan yang amat tinggi terhadap nilai murni, kesopanan dan kemesraan pada
tata-tertib berpakaian Islam. Bukan itu sahaja, Britain juga bercadang untuk
menyediakan tempat menunaikah solat serta berwudhu untuk kakitangannya yang berugama
Islam. Apa yang lebih menarik cadangan itu datang dari kaji selidik Stephen Lawrence,
seorang yang bukan Islam!!
Tony Blair nampaknya sudah nampak emas yang terpendam di dalam al Quran. Tetapi
Mahathir masih buta walaupun asyik hadir di setiap kempen menerapkan nilai-nilai Islam
dan majlis tilawah al Quran. Nampak sangat siapa yang mendapat bimbingan dan
pengajaran dari tuhan melalui al Quran dan siapa yang masih buta, pekak dan tuli

Female Muslim U.K. Police Allowed To Wear Hijab
LONDON April 25 (IslamOnline) - In a bid to boost recruitment of racial and ethnic
minorities, London's Metropolitan Police has decided to allow Muslim women police
officers to wear the hijab (head covering) while on duty.
The U.K.'s Home Office had informed London's police service that 25% of its officers
have to be black or of Asian descent within the next eight years. Currently, these
ethnic minorities constitute only 4.1% of the force.
The decision to allow female Muslim officers to wear the hijab was announced at a
conference held in central London on Tuesday where the Metropolitan Police (Met)
unveiled the second phase of its diversity strategy.
This new policy is in response to an inquiry by Stephen Lawrence, which labeled the
force as institutionally racist.
Muslim police officers have welcomed the move and it is expected that the policy will
be replicated in other U.K. cities.
Sir John Stevens, Met commissioner, in February approved the wearing of hijab after
consulting with Met's Positive Action Team, which advises the force on race-relations
initiatives, and the Association of Muslim Police.
Association of Muslim Police chairman Inspector Richard Varley, a revert to Islam,
welcomed the decision and said, "We've had certainly dozens of inquires by potential
Muslim female recruits but those inquiries dry up as soon as they realize they can't
wear a hijab."
He said the latest move sent "a wider message that Muslim values are valued within the
Met whether or not the officers choose to take up the offer of a hijab."
Varley added that with London being home to one million Muslims, out of a total
population of seven million, there should be around 3,000 Muslims rather than the 100
or so currently in the force.
Currently, there are about a dozen Muslim women police officers with the force.
The Met's uniform designers have already developed four prototype hijab designs, which
are expected to hit London's streets by summer. The final model will feature a
distinctive, police style black and white checkered band running around its rim.
Apart from the use of hijab while on duty, the Met will also introduce several other
facilities for Muslim officers in the future.
Inspector Varley had earlier stated that the commissioner has agreed in principle to
the setting up of prayer rooms in Scotland Yard, and at the police training school in
Hendon, north London.
The commissioner is also studying the possibility of adapting disabled lavatories at
police stations to allow Muslim officers to make Wudu before prayers.
