You can try using the MyXMLParser implementation of XMLParser.
ca.uhn.hl7v2.parser.XMLParser xmlParser = new
ca.uhn.hl7v2.parser.MyXMLParser();
ca.uhn.hl7v2.model.Message msg = xmlParser.parse(xmlMessage);
