I'm doing some tinkering with demo files, trying to learn more about editing
binary files.
What should one look for to tell when each frame starts?
I had a look at the wiki page for DEM Format, but I feel that didn't help
much (Each frame begins with *0 or more* of these commands).
Thanks
You wont be able to do much with demo files as far as the actual network
data goes. All of that is closed source as part of the engine. If you only
want to learn, then play with the demo header, that info is widely known.

Hey folks!
I guess I'll find out most about this topic here - you guys probably know
console options best.
In CryEngine and UnrealEngine, there are very simple ways to take high
resolution screenshots. I searched the Valve Developer wiki and Google - and
found nothing about the Source Engine.
That new donkey kong game looks pretty sweet!

You might try defining the resolution via the launch parameters and running
it in windowed mode (-width -height -sw)

It is possible with the upcoming Source Filmmaker feature used in pretty

Hi all,
Is there a solution to display in steamfriends (chat window and friends
list) mod you're playing instead of this useless playername currently
playing Source SDK Base 200x like in the past ?

To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or
Steam.inf should fix it.

A mere speculation: Are you sure you haven't forgot to name your mod?

I'd like to confirm I have the same problem as him, mod's named and
steam.inf contains appid 218(same in gameinfo), I don't think the change
from OB to 2007 caused it either, it worked fine for a while, but lately
it also turned into Source SDK Base 2007.

From what I have noticed, this seems to be affecting all mods (both
2006/2007-based) since late last week/early this week. I've tried
figuring it out, but I think this could be caused by one of Valve's
updates to the SDK/Base structure. Does anyone have a mod that is
displayed correctly when run?
Me and a bunch of friends were on a spree testing MP mods last week and we
played through a good number of them... they all displayed SDK Base
2006/2007. I guess it's something wrong with Steam.

Yes, I stand corrected - it's definitely something wrong with steam. With
Steam.inf blank or with an appid in it, has the same behavior for every
source mod. :(
