:* [hlds] Valve Security Breach
Hello Valve,
I'd like to request notification via these mailing lists once/if Valve
makes a statement about todays security breach and subsequent downtime.

Needles to say, there's probably a pretty good reason Steam and the forums
are separate, just in case of an event like this.
I'm also quite curious as to what is going on.

Probably just a vbulletin exploit (sql injection) or possibly a Valve admin
password was compromised, or just a really angry employee.
Either way I doubt it's a big deal.

Hey now, it's not spam, he told a good joke:
(probably $30,000+ in value)
On a more serious note, if anyone is re-using their credentials such that this
creates some sort of security liability
I would defiantly assume both users and some Valve staff use the same
passwords for multiple sites, I have no doubt some Valve staff have probably
had accounts at other sites compromised and maybe even their internal
network.
I think the main issue really should be that Valve has not notified

Yeah to continue flooding this mailing list with something unrelated to HLDS…
Is there a source to the claim that that account was hijacked?
