Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2 Update Released

2011-10-18 Thread Craig Kaiser
Crashed 3 times last night going back to desktop with the game simply
closing. Prior to this update when it crashed it required a ctl-alt-delete
because everything would lock up.

Another update is coming today which should hopefully address at least a

I also crashed more last night than before. One time just before
humilliation. And the other one during my demo's load out. Didn't
 bother launching it again

Cable connections

2001-10-05 Thread craig kaiser

Is it true that the cable companys usually place a
limit on how many external connections their cable modems can
handle?

I have a 3.5/512 business connection on cable. And
my server can not handle more than 12 players before lag is a serious
issue.

Okay I have ran both Linux and Win 2000.

Are ya sure setting the Maxrate to 3000 is a good idea?

Uh, define connections. I think you have your network terminology
confused. The cabe company doesn't filter your IP traffic. Connections
are
based on IP ports. The cable company isn't going to have anything to do
 with this..

As far as you having 512Kb/s upstream and maxing at 12 players before lag
becomes an issue, try setting your max_rate to 3000 and see if that helps
you overcome the 12 player barrier.

We at the Pirates Bloody Cove wanna say thanks Valve!

We like the upgrade! The only trouble my players had was with the ATI Cards.
But you quickly came out with a patch for it. So there is nothing to
complain about. The support that you still give to your original product is
amazing, considering I bought my game a very long time ago.

I look around and I do not see the continued support that other software
companies give to their original product like Valve does!

I often ask myself why do they do it? They have not made any money from me
since my original purchase of Half Life.

I for one would repurchase this product if the next upgrade was a mandatory
Retail Version. And despite being flamed by that statement, I do not think
I am alone in my feelings.

My team consists of players from around the world. Now with the voice
feature in this upgrade, I can talk to these players. I think it is a really
kewl feature!

Nothing in this world is perfect, nor will it ever be!

If you have a valid complaint voice it so it can be fixed. If all you wanna
do is cry, then run to your momma and get rocked to sleep! Crying here
without any information as to what is wrong, is just worthless posting.

I have learned a lot from this list. Normally I am quite and I just read,
laugh and learn little bits and pieces. There is a reason for this list.
Crying is not one of them!

Thanks Valve, because of your continued support our virtual combat field
lives on!

I appoligize for the rambling. I am just a little pissed off at the needless
slamming!

When you say this latest patch has been nothing but SHIT and fail to
actually
tell us what you mean, it's not only counter-productive and frustrating,
but it
totally eliminates any credibility you have in determining that any
problems you
may or may not actually be having are rooted in PEBKAC.

I have a high end gaming system sitting right here next to me, and this
latest patch has been nothing but SHIT. I have Windows 2000 Pro, 512MB
of
Kingston PC133 ValueRAM, GeForce 3, SBLive Plat 5.1, ABIT KT7A-RAID, and
a
  19 Monitor all hooked up to a 1.2Gig T-Bird 266FSB. The processor is a
bit
lacking, but for petes sake Valve get your shit together. Each patch
now
causes more head aches and troubles pretty soon Half Life will be
  unplayable, but oh well.

They did beta test it. They had several people from both top TFC
clans
  try
out new things. The only problem with this is that those same members
mostly have high bandwidth and high end computers. Any errors that
occur
with some modemers will probably not show up in the beta test.

Anyone else getting the idea that Valve should have beta testing
before
final releases? I'm getting sick of all the shit that every patch
causes
  to
   fix another one.
