Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2 Update Available

2010-11-19 Thread Mohammed Abdela
Nice update.

Not the correct place to ask I know, but could you consider adding support
for raw mouse input in L4D/L4D2 please?

Re: [hlds] Left 4 Dead 2 / Left 4 Dead updates released

2010-10-05 Thread Mohammed Abdela
I actually managed to update mine but now I'm getting the following error on
server start:

WARNING: No map specified! Defaulting to c1m1_hotel
ERROR: Source Engine binary './srcds_linux' not found, exiting
Tue Oct 5 20:33:16 CEST 2010: Server Failed

Trying to update again gives

 *

Checking/Installing 'left 4 dead 2 common' version 57

Send Failure, errno 9 Bad file descriptor*

First update log was over 15k lines long and went to 100% so I'm not sure if
valve have messed up here or if something else is in play. Anyone got there
server running?

By the way can you please release a changelog for this update valve? We
never got one for the passing and it was a pretty huge bummer since we
noticed later many gameplay bugs had been fixed.

Re: [hlds] SRCDS Protect Tips

2010-09-11 Thread Mohammed Abdela
Sorry but could you elaborate on this? I don't fully understand. Do you mean
setting the rcon in the command line like +rcon xxx and not in server.cfg?

2010/9/10 Codeseer codes...@gmail.com

You add the password to the startup parameters for RCON and that replaces
the 'rcon locker' without any of the side effects that the 'rcon locker'
 has.

 Subject: [hlds] SRCDS Protect Tips

I'm going to open 4 CS:S servers soon, and I need your help in blocking
 cheaters, crashers, etc.

 Currently, I am:

   - Blocking TCP port (no RCON)
   - Setting file permissions carefully, running SRCDS under a limited user
   - Installing the following plugins:
  - Kigen's Anti Cheat http://kigenac.com
  - DBlocker http://dblocker.didrole.com/
  - http://dblocker.didrole.com/Denial of Service
 Protecthttps://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=95312
  -

 https://forums.
 alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=109453
  - https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=109453Rcon locker
 /
  exploit fix https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=93934

I took this list mainly from
 herehttp://wiki.alliedmods.net/SRCDS_Hardening,
but it's seems to be a little outdated now. There are many new defense
plugins (like Query Cache), and I don't know what *should* I install and
 what's just unnecessary.

What plugins aren't necessary anymore from this list? What plugins should I
add? What else would you suggest to protect my servers?

 Thanks.

[hlds] Left 4 Dead 2 - Updated consistency check denies default game installs in versus mode

2010-07-11 Thread Mohammed Abdela
After the update to 2.0.2.6 many users are having trouble connecting to my
server. They get the error pak01_xxx failed consistency check when they
try to connect. Now I guess this is because the latest update changed the
way the pure and consistency check works somehow? But the thing is, some of
the users that has this error are friends of mine, and they have default
game installs with default .vpk files so they shouldnt be getting this
error. Also observe that they get this error in team versus/versus mode and
not when the server runs campaign mode for example.

Some people are saying that downloading the Left 4 Dead 2 Addon Support
client side fixes this. I can't confirm or deny this, but I can say that me
who has addon support installed can connect fine, while my friend who does
not have addon support installed can't connect. Is the case here that you
have to have the addon support to be able to connect to versus games? Maybe
the addon support modyfies the .vpk files, and the consistency check checks
crc against the addon support modded .vpks, and therefore normal game
installs without the addon support installed fails the consistency check?
