Re: [hlds] Counter-Strike Source: Tickrate change: Set to 66, -tickrate removed
FYI, their releasing an update for the CSS beta tomorrow and not CSS itself, maybe you should wait and see how the changes affect gameplay before complaining. The OrangeBox engine does allot more than the Source engine does and the Hidden Path guys know what their doing, you'll find the other additions and fixes they have and will make over the next few weeks (if not already) account for a majority of perceived issues resulting with the decision to restrict tickrate... IMO tickrate isn't required with the way Valve designed the OB engine. -- From: Kyle Sanderson kyle.l...@gmail.com Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 2010 8:46 PM To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list hlds@list.valvesoftware.com; Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list hlds_li...@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: [hlds] Counter-Strike Source: Tickrate change: Set to 66,-tickrate removed http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1319021 This is a joke right? From my understanding, CS:S is going live tomorrow on Mac. http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/64386 Unless if that article implies that they're releasing the beta to Mac, which it does not. The Hidden Path guys are great, however they should only be adding features, not taking them away. My buddy is hosting a CS:S server currently on a 2mbit (burstable to 5mbit) line with 40 or so players. This will most definitely not be possible if 66tick is enforced on every Server out there. Bandwidth isn't that cheap in some foreign countries. Thanks, Kyle. I would assume its the beta going public. There's really a lot of people who can't test it out due to limited spots. DODS was an open beta for quite some time before going OB final. Re: [hlds] Counter-Strike Source: Tickrate change: Set to 66, -tickrate removed
servers with that mod have A W F U L his registration. Oranegbox was designed and optnized for 66 tick. Forcing 100 totally screws it up. I know ill be avoiding awful servers running that 100 tick work-around On Wed, Jun 23, 2010 at 8:10 PM, DontWannaName! ad...@topnotchclan.comwrote: Lets see how fast it gets patched, that will be the real test.
