No one teacher can teach you everything. Most of us on
here have had probably at least a half dozen or so
different teachers over the years, and we've all
learned different things from different players.
If your current teacher says it's time to change, then
you would do well to change.

Hello Hornlisters!
I am currently a year away from graduating high school. Once I graduate, I
will be accepted into my local university's music program, and will have
access to their professional-level teachers. My current teacher and I have
agreed that it would be a good time to change teachers,

I recommend finding out what kind of horn your new teacher plays, mouthpiece,

I haven't heard of the accousticoil in years. I'm
curious...is the effect psychological, or is there
really something to it?

Some bad colleague put such into my Selmer change valve
slide just before Don Carlo. The spiral slid into the valve
creating a desaster, but I was lucky to get it out in time
dueto the fact, that the change valve is a cross-valve,
where one can see into the valve body when pulling this
slide out. S

Hi Bill,
FYI, my Yamaha YHR801 Vienna horn likes:

Most Vienna horns I've played seem to like

Melvin,
I am nearly 100% certain that his piece has never been recorded (if it has,
it must be on some privately produce production that has eluded me). Naxos
has released at least one CD of his music, but nothing horn related.
Back when I started to take private lessons, ca. 1960, I studied with
You can get the effect of the Accousticoil for free by wrapping some thin
insulated wire around a thick pencil. Make a loose spiral about 1 inch in
length. I haven't tried an Accousticoil, but he wire spiral does have an
effect.
