You may get different people holding strong views on this, but all it will come down them having found which approach works best for them and perhaps for the majority of their students. Personally I prefer play with lips slightly wet. That's how I was taught and that is what feels more comfortable. But I can play dry if necessary, for instance if I find that my concentration has lapsed and I need to whip the horn to my lips and play an entry immediately.
