Vaseline?
No, but the grease they put in the case is pretty much vaseline. It`s a
combo slide and cork grease but really much better corks.
The suspense is killing me on this one!

Yes, I agree that most of the edited Mozart Horn Concerti are edited in a
way against the Mozart style. Some editors even dared to add embellishment
so do some even well known soloists.
In Vienna, we grew up with the Henri Kling Edition, which following more or

Klaus, it cannot be overheard that the Caesar solo aria horn solo is scored
for F-horn, because it would not be possible for any other natural horn, to
play this aria. There are two other 4 horn numbers there, scored for
G-horns, with a cadenza up to our high d3 in p dynamics - very delicate. And

I've got the chance to accept a voluntary position to play principal Horn in
my school's production in West Side Story (or at least call dibs on it) and I
was curious if there were any good horn solos in it. It's been a while since
I've heard/watched it so if there are any good moments for
Hi William!
I played the principal part in my university's production of WSS. I
don't recall any long solos, but much of the part is very exposed,
including, I think, a totally solo a-sharp that leads into Maria --
and is Tony's starting pitch (again, it's been 15+ years, so this is

My Holton H180 is 24 years old. The valves are still practically new. There
is no wiggle when you grab the rotor shafts a wiggle them. I play a lot, so
the horn is not just sitting in the case.
Under the backbearing caps I have Teflon grease. On the shafts I have used
molybdenumdisulfide
William,
If you are doing the same book I played when it passed through town a
few years ago the part is quite extensive. You have a number of big
solo's, including There's a Place for Us in both the overture and the
actual piece, not to mention some rather extensive brass section
features in the

Hi! I am recently back in the audition world, and having trouble locating
parts to some music on the list. I own the Thompson book, and several
others, but a few are eluding me. Here's the list.
1. Don Juan horn 2 complete- I own the green Strauss orchestral excerpt

This brings up an interesting idea that I had. A year ago when I had an
audition I decided to start collecting scores to major orchestral works. I've
got
a good ways to go before I have a complete set of everything but it never
hurts to read over a score while you listen to the piece - or
I hope that's not your only criterion for accepting the part.

Thanks for all your inputs. My criteria on selecting this was basically
mixed revues from people around here. Some other players here have mentioned
how
it won't be that exciting so I wanted a few 2nd opinions. I figured it would
be fun so this helps my decision a lot.

Well, I have four auditions coming up from now til Oct. 11th, but most of
the ones I need are for Harrisburg. The Don Juan is for Albany, which is
QUICKLY approaching, as is the Allentown(which has the Die Meistersinger one
I need) .
