I have been using a Wacom Intuos CTL-490 (probably the cheapest Wacom available, around USD110 here) combined with JOSM and its FastDraw plugin for over a year now. All of this in Ubuntu(Gnome) 16.04. They work great together, specially if you want to map forests, woods, reservoirs, riverbanks
