These things seem to go in fashions. Currently it seems fashionable to map connections from a more major highway to a building as service but the distances are getting longer. Recently on one HOT project a highway was tagged service although it connected two other highways and had more than half

There may be some cases with service roads within large private or protected properties (such as mining areas, or natural parks, or large ranches and agricultural complexes) probably in US, South Africa, Russia, Australia, Brasil (these huge areas may still have a few public roads crossing them,

Hi John, do you any have specific examples to share? In DRC, you can find pretty long service roads within mining concessions and leading to extraction sites. Interestingly, within logging and agricultural concessions, we usually tag similar "industrial roads" as highway=track + access=logging /

I'm seeing some that are more than 10kms in length. My feeling is this is not a service highway in the conventional sense. Thoughts? and if it is considered that 10 km is too long can we drop a guideline into the wiki? Thanks John ___ HOT mailing

Hi Bjoern, It looks like Ethan did get exactly what you want created on the back end, but I do not see a link to it on the front end yet. But, I just tested this and it works as you want, it will download the AoI as a geojson and then you can use that file unaltered to import and create a new

Sure - and thanks for your feedback! I guess the idea was to offer something different for validators - rather than just mapping the same as the primary mappers, and fixing/completing, they'd (in addition) get to use an interesting JOSM plugin, that builds their advanced skills in JOSM. (While

Dear friends, in supporting JOSM mapper with new skills (for more specialised tasks) I converged on the idea of "tailored practice projects", allowing JOSM mappers to learn and practice (more advanced) skills. See e.g. and https://tasks.hotosm.org/project/3296
