I have no further idea what could be the cause for the problem.
Please check your installation first. Deinstall hugin (all packages, especially
hugin-data). Then check /usr/share/hugin(/xrc) and
/usr/local/share/hugin(/xrc). These folder should not exists after

* Check that the packages matches (hugin and hugin-data package should both the
same version). Maybe there is something mixed.
* packages.ubuntu.com lists for Ubuntu 14.04 only the 2013.0 version. And this
version is compiled and linked with wxWidgets 2.8. Your assertion
