After some week of testing (off maillist converation) we still don't have a
solution. This weekend 26/27 March I don't have time to work on it. The
solution itself might take 2 days or 2 weeks.

I think it was the old preview.
At least, at this time, you had to enter the preview settings in the main final
window, and then you had to look on the old preview.
Not even sure the new preview was available at this time (2008?). It is
irrelevant with the new preview anyway, as you can crop
tmodes, sorry for my English, but there is clearly a misunderstanding
between us.

I'll assume you downloaded the Hugin 2011.0.0 beta 3 installer from SourceForge.
Try installing the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable:

You are asking Hugin to render a 307125x151806 pixel panorama, this is
absurdly large.
The Hugin 2011.0.0 beta should give you a warning to try and stop you
doing this.
