of the team has a similar or the same
computer as mine? Could you guide me to test the switching?
Thank you very much.

I installed Ubuntu 11.10 (updated all packets first) and the catalyst
11.11, and i can boot with no problems. Just the switching feature
that dont work, my 5650 nerver is up! -.-
There is a catalyst version that can start the discrete card (5650)??

I have an HP pavilion dv6 3160us, and there's no option to switch to
fixed mode. There's a BIOS update to do this... but for another model

not for mine.
I can't switch
-1xxx series and it offers it even for a old muxed
intel+ati model. I thought all HP muxed ones work the same way.

The proprietary drivers should work... but they don't
I always receive mails from this list... but they are hopeless for my
situation (maybe I'm alone in this). I have an HP with two ATI cards
(4250 and 5650), using only the 4250 (no way to switch to discrete,
neither the proprietary, nor the free drivers).
Anyway, I stay in touch.
PD: I
not exactly sure if you have time and knowledge I recon you
try arch on a separate partition. It gives you more freedom to
configure which version of what you's be using.
