[IAEP] Sugarizer on School Server! (Thur Apr 2, 10AM NYC Time)

2015-03-28 Thread Adam Holt
Please join our weekly Thursday public call (10AM NYC Time) with special
guest from Paris:

   Lionel Laske (https://twitter.com/lionellaske)
   President of http://olpc-france.org
   Founder of http://Sugarizer.org

He'll explain the evolution of Sugarizer -- while he guides us integrating
this for offline schools using XSCE school servers (in Ghana, Fiji, Haiti,
India, Malaysia...the list is now growing faster that any other year). We
have not begun Sugarizer integration, but all agree now's the time, and
Lionel agrees to help us get this right. Particularly now that XSCE school
servers are being tested on CentOS 7, offering enterprise support/updates
into 2024.

Please bring your probing questions for Lionel!

   - How compatible is Sugarizer with the wide diversity of legacy (very
old) Android devices we discover in the developing world?
   - What specific steps should a volunteer take to improve the language
support of Sugarizer for their own country/region/diaspora?
   - How is my Journal protected, by whom, and might a child safeguard
their own copy using something like
   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Takeout ?
   - What activities should Sugarizer most urgently embrace, to become an
MVP? (Minimal Viable Product aka Most Valuable Player!)
   - Truly, how can we help? What would a complete Sugarizer ecosystem
look like, in the ideal world?
   - Will Sugarzer be offered to actual Facebook users, as well as on
passenger jets seatbacks and in self-driving cars worldwide?
   - Or is Sugarizer 100% organic, not interested in Silicon Valley's latest
   drone/balloon idolatry

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/26/technology/drones-beaming-web-access-are-in-the-stars-for-facebook.html
dreams to conquer the 3rd world?
   - After MIT provided $100 Bitcoins to ALL students, who crazily spent
all the money flinging $100 laptops around the world, can we now use
Sugarizer to mine more Bitcoin directly (neurologically) from all global
   children's brains?
   - Rumors fly the President of OLPC France forced his own children to
sign IRB's, creating Sugarizer's untouchably beautiful UX -- hence refining
the slick marketing of child labor we've long-overlooked, to igniting a
movement of billions of Sugarized learneRs not just learneDs?
   - Is there a risk kids'll expose Napoleon's latest plan for France
retake Africa-then-the-world (from China) using Sugarizer, in fact
beginning the very Day Before Our Call?
   - Could the hidden salary + massive travel stipend of OLPC France's
President be published by Sugar users worldwide, that Very Same Day??

*Mark your calendar carefully: that day is coming fast, Wednesday the first
day of the month, the very day before our call, and please nobody tell
China what is coming.* The Truth is more important than the Facts, and la
Cinéma Véritée even more so, on this Je Suis Paristocratic day of
post-parody especially. It cannot be a coincidence that Napoleon rose back
to power exactly 200 years ago, late March 1815...preparing for this very
day? Already trembling in fear of OLPC France's Napoleonic President and
his fearrorist army of volunteers? Super Scary Stuff, but never fear
children: we'll help you write a N.ifty S.ugar A.ctivity that disguises
your voice, as you
*Speak Truth to Power directly, the very next day after.*
Yes that very next day (April 2) we'll recover, I promise (unless his Jacobin
lieutenant https://twitter.com/bzg2 and Korean propagandist
https://twitter.com/fleurpellerin counterattack ;) so keep your powder
dry, *preparing your own very best Sugarizer questions* to add to our
weekly agenda/minutes here, asking the one+only Lionel Laske live during
Thursday's call:

Best of luck surviving that 1st day of April, to all :-) And thanks for
sending your Skype name or phone number in advance of Thursday's call!! Or
ping backchannel #schoolserver live at that time (10AM NYC Time) on
http://webchat.freenode.net (but stick with pre-Sugarized Freedom Fries
this week, just to be safe)

Lets be honest, without Walter, probably Sugar Labs would be different..

How much Mr. Bender is being compensated by OLPC for his work on Sugar or
OLPC related matters? On the OLPC web site he is listed as a contractor.
Mr. Cameron is also listed as a contractor. He is paid to provide support to
regional projects. Has Mr. Bender been paid or provided travel expenses to
promote either Sugar or OLPC since he publicly quite during his feud with
 Dr. Negroponte?

Are all the mail moderated or only mail from who is not in the list?

Hello members of IAEP and Sugar-devel :

It looks like both of these lists have been without an active mantainer
for some time. I noticed this, as one email I wrote got stuck in
 moderation.

I consulted with Bernie, our Infrastructure Team leader, and, in
accordance to his suggestion, proceeded to take action.

For the time being I've assumed administrative control of both lists.

It looks like the traffic is not much anymore so moderating shouldn't be
much of a hassle. Still, I think it would be healthy if I could team up
with at least a couple of more people who would be willing to process
the moderation queue, or even better, if somebody could assume
 responsibility of it.

 Anybody says aye?
