Our primary channels on Freenode are now set to + r which means only
"registers" users can post. This should take care of the spam issue, but
will inconvenience some users.

BTW there is something contradictory between words from Brett ("not covered
by the money coming from Google for GSoC") and from Walter ("We will get
$3300 from Google to cover all of the expenses"). Could you clarify this
