Use IDCAMS DELETE catalog.entry NOSCRATCH to delete them. Identifying is more complicated. Figuring out way they are occurring and stopping it should be a high priority. > -Original Message- > From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu] On > Behalf Of Mohamed Juma >

Removing entries of non-existing data sets from SMS volumes

We are facing a problem to remove entries of non-existing data sets from SMS volume, first how to check all volumes in that SMS group for the data sets which not existing, second how to delete their entries. Thanks, Mohamed Juma ---

And IMHO, CA Technologies made a  mistake when they renamed the product CA-Disk Backup and Recovery.  That name places it as a backup and recovery tool, but it is so much more than that.  IMO they should have stuck with just CA-Disk.  My shop has had the product since about 1987, and we use it f

Hi Ron, Sure the HURBA will reflect high water mark, but I've worked with journey level folks who look at record count and disk allocation, lots of folks don't pay a lot of attention to HURBA. And our OP does identify himself as new.  Of course, most of us are new at something or other.

Lisa, I thought about the record deletion, but even when there are only a few records left the HURBA is going to reflect the highest CI used. For VSAM KSDS there's a huge difference between empty and one record, and Ed didn't mention if it was an RRDS or ESDS. Clever programmers and billing -

The main reason that I like z/OS UNIX is: it helps to keep the mainframe viable until I have to retire. I use to have a job where I could monitor IBM-Main during the work day so I've missed out on the lively USS vs USS discussion. As per usual Ed Jaffe had the best response ;-) I thought
